What’s New for the 2021 Dodge Challenger?

One of the most legendary American muscle cars, in the same league as the Chevrolet Camaro and the Ford Mustang, is the Dodge Challenger. However, it is also quite different from the other two as it is mostly meant for relaxed cruising, unlike hard driving in the other two. Enthusiasts looking for a very powerful version must consider the SRT Hellcat, capable of churning out a pulsating 717 hp.

Trims:

Muscle car fans can look out for the following trims of the 2021 Dodge Challenger:

  • GT
  • SXT
  • SRT Hellcat
  • R/T
  • R/T Scat Pack

R/T Scat Pack owners will be able to add the ST branding to the Brembo brake calipers on their vehicles. Both RWD (Rear Wheel Drive) and AWD (All Wheel Drive) options are available on all cars.

Exterior Beauty:

New retro themed packages, along with several newer paint options are available on the 2021 Dodge Challenger. The headlight shapes can increase air flow to the front of the vehicle. Two inlets on top of the bonnet also help to add the sporty look and improve aerodynamics.

Performance and Beauty Under the Hood

Only the V6 models get AWD which has been made available in a muscle car for the first time. Macho 20-inch wheels have been made optional on the SXT AWD and standard on the GT trim. Overall, the interiors look exactly like what one would expect from a muscle car.

That the engine will be a complete powerhouse on this car is an understatement. Here are the options for buyers:

  1. The base 3.6 liter V6 engine gets 305 hp of power and 268 lbs.-ft of torque. RWD (Rear Wheel Drive) is available, along with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
  2. 7 liter engine that produces 375 hp of power (R/T) and 410 lbs.-ft of torque and is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.
  3. 4 liter Hemi V8 which churns out 485 hp of power and 475 lbs.-ft of torque.
  4. 2 liter V8 with a monstrous 717 hp of power, 656 lbs.-ft of torque, and a 6-speed manual transmission.

Everyday drivability has gained precedence over very agile handling on the 2021 Dodge Challenger., Expect the SXT to sprint from 0.60 mph in 6.3 seconds.

Interior Beauty:

In the 2021 Dodge Challenger, a new memory feature is available in the trims that get a power-adjustable steering column, side mirrors and driver’s seat for radio presets. Space on the inside is more, and the seats are also more comfortable than its rivals.

From the choice of seating material to the desired color scheme, everything can be customized. The cockpit has a wonderful wrap around feel as designers here have kept the driver in mind for all modifications. Materials are soft and feel upmarket, which is visible through the leather covered adjustable steering wheel.

More than 16 cubic feet of cargo space has been offered in the 2021 Dodge Challenger. A 7-inch infotainment system with FCA’s UConnect System is available here.

High Class Safety Features:

This old style fast coupe is now available with several driver assistance technologies for safety. Here is a look at these new age technologies:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Automatic High Beams
  • Blind Spot Monitoring
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert
